El Barrio Unite opposes the City Planning Commission (CPC) ULURP Application For Lexington Gardens II (supported by Community Board 11 Manhattan) based on Project Exclusion of our community households earning less than $29,000.
Despite numerous contentious discussions on affordability of housing development proposals on city owned land, CB11 fails to recognize Article 1.2 of its own East Harlem Housing Plan with respect to very low income earning folks of El Barrio. Approval for the proposed Lexington Gardens II by CB11 with NO set asides for East Harlem’s poorest folk belittles the work of Melissa Mark-Viverito’s participatory housing plan now two years in the making. What good is to be made of the numerous housing forums sponsored by CB11 if our own planning board will not accept its finalized recommendations.
Kindly read our opposition letter below delivered to CPC and offer your own opposition vote to this preposterous proposal that excludes 37% of El Barrio’s residents while gifting the developers with this city parcel valued at $ 8.3 Million Dollars. CB11 is accountable to its own community that it is failing by its lacking oversight.
